Tread brake units
Tread brake units
In addition to the conventional KES mTBU 300 tread brake unit, which is based on the proven mechanical mode of operation, the intelligent KES iTBU 300 tread brake unit from KES offers economic and technological advantages.
In conventional tread brake units, pneumatic braking pressures are transmitted to the brake units to generate the brake force. However, there is no feedback to the brake control system regarding the actual brake pad force applied.
With the intelligent tread brake unit, KES offers a solution that creates a closed information loop in which the data transmitted by the tread brake unit (e.g. the brake pad force) is evaluated by the brake or vehicle control system.
This also allows the transmission of further diagnostic information, such as the number of braking operations performed and the total wear of the brake shoe and wheel. This means that, for example, the necessary brake block change can be displayed as a preventive measure when the maximum wear is reached.
The tread brake units include a brake cylinder and a force transmission mechanism. In addition, the units can be supplied with a spring brake for the parking brake.
All KES GmbH & Co. KG tread brake units are equipped with an automatic wear adjustment.
The KES TBU 300 family of tread brake units is available in different versions:
mechanical compact brake unit (mTBU 300)
intelligent compact brake unit (iTBU 300)
Mechanical tread brake unit (mTBU 300)
The KES mTBU 300 mechanical tread brake unit includes a brake cylinder with pneumatic force generation and a force transmission mechanism. Wear adjustment is done mechanically. The brake calliper is opened mechanically to change the brake block.
The mechanical tread brake unit offers the following features:
Pneumatic force generation
Mechanical wear adjustment
Optionally with spring brake for the parking brake
Temperature range from -40 °C to +100 °C
Intelligent tread brake unit (iTBU 300)
The intelligent KES iTBU 300 tread brake unit includes a brake cylinder with pneumatic force generation and a force transmission mechanism. Wear adjustment is done mechanically through springs. To change the brake block, the brake caliper is opened mechanically. Furthermore, sensors are installed for monitoring the condition of the brake unit.
The intelligent tread brake unit offers the following features:
