For independent electrical power supply in rail vehicles, KES has developed the GE 20 axle generator, which is used, for example, in rail freight transport to supply power to wheel slide protection systems.

The electrical energy is generated by a generator from the rotational movement of the axle of a vehicle. On the one hand, the energy can be used directly by the consumers, and on the other hand, it can be used to charge a battery, thus ensuring an electrical energy supply even when the vehicle is stationary.

In conjunction with a wheel slide protection system, the generator can also be used for contactless measurement of the axle speed, reducing the need for pulse generators and phonic wheels.

The axle generator has a high mechanical stability and a high IP protection rating, which ensures long-term use in harsh, humid and very dirty environments.
