Emergency brake override system (NBÜ) for locomotives and control cars according to UIC procedures

If the emergency brake override system is switched on, the control unit generates the required constant current measuring signal and constantly couples it into the in die EP/ NBÜ loop. The current flow of the loop is permanently monitored.

In case that the passenger emergency brake is pulled in one of the coaches, an activated emergency brake is signalled to the driver until the signal is cancelled. During this time the driver has the opportunity to follow the request for an emergency brake or to override it.

The processes in the emergency brake override system accounts for the driving condition of the train according to the requirements of the system NBÜ 2004 and UIC bulletin 541-6 respectively.

The supply voltage is 24V +/- 30% or alternatively 110V +/- 30%.

An activated passenger emergency brake and internal failures are signalled via a relay and LEDs. Moreover, the existing system disposes of self-diagnosis, LED status displays as well as additional hardware functions. It has been tested according to EN 50 155 and EN 50 121-3-2.

This control unit has been approved by DB.

As an alternative we offer an electronic board for emergency brake override for retrofit in existing systems. The electronic board is able to generate the requested constant current measuring signal and to constantly couple it into the in die EP/ NBÜ loop. The current flow of the loop is permanently monitored.

A modification in the current flow due to an activated emergency brake is detected by the board and signalled via an output.

The supply voltage is 24V +/- 30%.

Moreover, the existing board disposes of self-diagnosis, LED status displays as well as additional hardware functions. It has been tested according to EN 50 155 and EN 50 121-3-2.
